'BJP will fight against corruption alone'

TNN Jun 23, 2011, 08.59pm IST
VARANASI: Senior BJP leader and former minister Lalji Tandon & Senior leader from Maharashtra Mr Appasaheb Kage said though the BJP extended its full support to Anna Hazare and Baba Ramdev on the issue of corruption and black money, the party would continue its battle alone against the prevailing corruption in the country.

"BJP is the only political party that not only raised the issue of black money deposited in foreign banks but also included it in its poll manifesto to bring the wealth back home, if it comes to power," he said while talking to media persons on Thursday. On the issue of the Lokpal Bill, he said how could the government take any decision on such an important issue without consulting the Opposition. "Keeping aside the political parties in Opposition, the government started negotiation with the civil society on Lokpal Bill, and now it is looking towards the political parties when it has failed to end the deadlock," he said. When asked why BJP was fighting the battle alone when the goal was common, Tandon said it was upon them (Anna Hazare and Baba Ramdev) to decide for a joint battle with BJP support against corruption. 'Whenever they want our support in this battle, we will promptly come forward with a helping hand,' he said.
