Maharashtra BJP today announced to meet Karnataka chief minister BS Yeddyurappa over the disputed border issue between the two states.A delegation of the state BJP would soon meet Karnataka CM BS Yeddyurappa to discuss the border issue and clear our stand on it," BJP state leader Appasaheb Kage said.BJP wants the Centre to change its stand on the Maharashtra-Karnataka border issue and work as a mediator to solve the dispute, Kage said.
BJP's announcement came a day after Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray demanded removal of Union law minister Veerappa Moily to ensure impartial handling of the border dispute which is now in the Supreme Court.
A resolution in this regard was passed at a two-day meeting of the state BJP recently held at Kolhapur. Inflation, corruption, drought, hike in electricity charges were the other issues talked about in the meeting.
On civic body elections of Kalyan-Dombivali and Kolhapur scheduled this year Mungantiwar said BJP and Sena would contest them together. "We have spoken to Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray today and would go together for the civic body polls," he said.
Meanwhile, Kage announced Sena-BJP candidates Ranjeet Patil and Suhas Pharande from graduate constituency of Amaravati and Nashik respectively. BJP would be supporting Ramnath Mote (Konkan), Ramesh Pophale (Martawada) and Ganar (Nagpur). All the five candidates would be contesting the legislative council polls
